How can I start taking classes at Potomac Pilates?
All new clients
are required to take 3 beginner classes. These are purchased in a $90
package. To get started you can click
here to sign up online or call us
at 301-983-3745. Beginners can also sign up for any cardio, mat or chair
classes since these classes are designed for all levels.
Can I take a group class if I have a pre-existing injury?
With a doctor’s
approval, you may take any Beginner Pilates class offered. From there,
your instructor will work with you to determine the best class for you.
If you have a more serious condition, we may be able to offer private
sessions. These can be scheduled when group classes are not taking
place.
How many times a week should I take classes to see results?
The majority of our clients take 2-3 classes a week. Of course, the more often you come, the faster you will see results.
What is the cancellation policy?
There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. You will be charged for a
class if you do not cancel 24 hours in advance. As most of our classes
have a waitlist, this ensures that we have plenty of time to fill the
slot and give other clients the opportunity to take the class
How many people are in a class?
Group Reformer classes consist of 8 or fewer clients. At Potomac Pilates we strive to give you the individual
attention you need to perform Pilates with proper form, avoid injury and
achieve results.
What do I wear?
Comfortable, yoga-type clothing. Please do not wear anything too baggy as it is important for your instructor to be able to see your form.
Do I wear shoes?
Shoes are not allowed in the studio for regular Pilates classes.
Is it okay to come back-to-back days?
Yes, it’s fine to do Pilates classes daily.
Pilates provides the benefits of strength training; however, unlike
traditional weights, Pilates also focuses on breathing, alignment,
stretching and mindfulness. Pilates does not break down muscle in the
same way regular strength training does, making it a safe, daily
exercise.
